Why do we need LifeWalk?
- Dallas leads the state of Texas in new HIV infections
- The Dallas metroplex has more than 20,000 individuals that are HIV-infected
- The Center for Disease Control estimates that an additional 30% are infected and DO NOT KNOW THEIR STATUS
- AIDS is the third leading cause of death for Latinos
- African Americans, Latinos and gay youth make up the fastest growing groups of new HIV infections in the United States
- African American men make up nearly 50% of all new AIDS cases in the United States
- More than one million people in the United States are living with HIV/AIDS, with approximately 40,000 new infections each year.

Honorary Co-Chairs for LifeWalk 2008
The honorary co-chairs for the 18th Annual LifeWalk event have defined community support through their hard work and many efforts, especially in the Dallas area. These individuals are undoubtedly honorary in every sense of the word. It gives us great pleasure to announce Mr. Del Shores and Mr. Jason Dottley as LifeWalk 2008 Honorary Co-Chairs.
Del Shores
Mr. Del Shores is the writer/director/executive producer of "Sordid Lives: The Series" now airing on MTV's LOGO channel. He wrote, directed and produced the movie "Sordid Lives" based on his award-winning play and wrote and executive produced the film adaptation of his play "Daddy’s Dyin’…Who’s Got The Will". For television he wrote for and executive produced the American version of "Queer as Folk" and wrote and produced for "Dharma and Greg", "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and "Ned and Stacey". His plays have won NAACP, GLAAD, LA Drama Critics and countless other awards and have been produced in over 2,000 theatres world-wide.
Jason Dottley
Mr. Jason Dottley is currently starring as "Ty Williamson" in Del Shores' "Sordid Lives: The Series". Dottley stars with icons Olivia Newton-John and Rue McClanahan, as well as noted pros Bonnie Bedelia, Beth Grant, Caroline Rhea and Leslie Jordan. As a producer, Dottley is the President of Del Shores Productions. Currently they have partnered with Funny Boy Films to produce the film adaptation of Shores' GLAAD Award-winner "Southern Baptist Sissies". Delta Burke and Leslie Jordan are head-lining with the filming planned for 2008. Dottley will work as an actor on the project as well.
